A fascinating glimpse into expat island life from a highly intelligent writer with a delightful, wistful style and a dry sense of humour.

Lovely little blog; that's how I would like my retirement to be ? but who would be my beloved? Love the little stories about the hens and can just imagine it . . .

Granny P. Oh, if only I had a granny like Granny P! She?s sharp, funny, charming and compassionate. No rocking chair or tea parties with lace doilies for this granny. She has no time. She?s too involved with Life. Whatever the issue; tourist development on her Canary island, global politics, the way we live now, or her own life and family, Granny?s observations are always well-directed. She writes so beautifully and carefully, not at all in the hasty manner of so many bloggers. I would love to see her pieces in a regular newspaper column.

I've been reading Granny P. for almost a year. We grannies seek each other out. Her stories of life on her island are so much fun. Every now and then she throws in a biographical post of her life as a young woman. I never miss one of her posts and my only complaint is that there are too few.

I have been an avid blog reader for almost a year and Grannyp's was one of the first I sampled. I read her regularly because she writes wittily about life both in Spain and in the UK. She records the glad times and the sad times with wisdom and insight. She's the sort of person who, if one was in a pickle one would turn to her for advice. She is definitely in my top ten.

Love this blog. Excellent writing, but also interesting for me as an expat to read about things I understand so well, living on an island myself where life has its own ways.
